TPC_Opa replied to the topic VA taking away opiates from veterans in the forum Military/Veterans 1 year, 9 months ago
Jaimes,
Sorry to hear about all the problems you are having to deal with the VA. Unfortunately, I hear this all to often from fellow veterans. I served at Camp Lejeune from 1984-1987 so was on the tail end before they finally capped off the wells. In the last few months I have been going through a battery of tests after they noticed problems…[Read more]

Sorry That I haven’t gotten back to anyone sooner. I have been off of pain meds for 1 1/2 years now, not by choice. Mine must have been one of the first VA’s to start this new policy. They also have switched to the mind over matter policy. The VA has tried several methods with me over the years to alleviate my chronic pain. Hypnotherapy,…[Read more]

Greetings everyone,
Has anyone out there tried eating foods that purport to lessen inflammation or pain? How have they worked for you? I have found several websites devoted to this and am going to go on a regimen of following a few of these. I may even start a blog with giving the results of how this works out for me. Let me know if you are…[Read more]

I am curious if any other veteran has had opiates taken away from them. Were you tapered off or was it more drastic? If you have, what other treatment options are they offering you? I ask these questions because the VA will start my tapering off of morphine for the next 6 months. I saw my PCP last month and he didn’t have a clue as to what the VA…[Read more]

I have been recallecent in following the forums on the site. After I moderated chat today, I took a hint from something bd said in chat and clicked on the forums link.
I am definitely glad that I did. I learned a lot of pearls of wisdom from this thread alone. I will be writing a log book on how my body adapts to being taken off of morphine and to…[Read more] -
TPC_Opa started the topic Winning your appeal in the forum Military/Veterans 8 years, 6 months ago
Any one that is a disabled veteran knows how hard it is to get your proper rating of disability with the VA. I received my package from VARO Saturday stating that they were finally approving my appeal. I started this process back in 2007 and my case made its way from the VARO to the US Court of Veteran Appeals 2 times and was on its way for the…[Read more]

I guess none of this has been implemented as yet at the VA I use as of yet. Wish I was not so skeptical, but to me this is just another feel good, we are doing something for the vets like Veterans Choice. That has been one SNAFU after another and still no sign that they will get Veterans Choice running like they say it will. Reading this now is…[Read more]

Have you thought about investing in a kindle or the like bd? The Gutenberg project and feedbooks are a couple of sites that you can download books that are out of copy write protection for free. Tons of classics, historical novels, etc. And you can store an unbelievable amount of books in one device that would take up no room on the Lonoh. I envy…[Read more]

I also find computer games to be a pleasant distraction from pain. I am into Neverwinter Online and Legendary Monsters via facebook. With Neverwinter a MMORPG ( Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game ). In these games, you create a player charactor ( or toon ) and enter into a different world. Whether you enjoy fantasy or stepping into the…[Read more]

I have the same problem Noki. I am going to start going to a doctor outside the VA system because my PCP ignores me when I bring up the subject of headaches. I have these on a daily basis so I understand where you are coming from. Maybe one of us can find something that will help with this.
