Any one that is a disabled veteran knows how hard it is to get your proper rating of disability with the VA. I received my package from VARO Saturday stating that they were finally approving my appeal. I started this process back in 2007 and my case made its way from the VARO to the US Court of Veteran Appeals 2 times and was on its way for the…[Read more]

Years ago we did not have the laptops and cell phones and life went on. Today however we find the technology allows us to reach out from the comfort and security of our homes to interact with others who live with pain and are on this journey.
It allows us to know that we are not alone. It is that ability to reach out that helps us to move forward…[Read more]

Hi Lizzben,
It was nice chatting with you in the chat on Wednesday. I understand way you are as I have been told many times that same thing, “sorry we can’t help you with the pain”.
I have been lucky that my family doctor continues to help me with options for pain relief. I have tried a couple of the pain management programs offered by one of…[Read more]

Hi Bd,
I totally agree with YaYa, so happy you have great dock mates and so happy to hear Ms. Kitty found her way back home. You are going to have to have a talk with her and find out her new sunning spots.
Take care

Bd,
It is so comforting to hear that you are exactly where you and Ms. Kitty need to be. I adore that you have such wonderful dock mates to help you when needed. It sounds like Ms. Kitty has explored her surroundings and has a few places she has not shared with you.
I have to say that as I was reading your post, I got tense when I read she was…[Read more] -

Hi Lizzben,
It is nice to hear from you. I wondered how things were going with you.
Thank you for sharing I have never heard of dry needling.I took yet another fall yesterday on the steps leading to our basement. I am okay, just sore and bruised up
a bit. Several years ago when the falling started my primary care provider sent me to work…[Read more] -

Lizzben,
Thank you for sharing the treatment options that you are trying. With so many different treatments out there it can be down right frustrating and scary. Having someone to share what they have experienced allows others to gain some insight.
We wish you the very best in your treatment and low pain days.Take care,

Bd,
As I was reading over the last two entries I could hear my brain saying stop…wait a minute…I want to stay in canyon country for a little while. The wonderful descriptions you gave about the rabbit run and the dry river beds instantly took my brain to those places.
There are days here in my pain world where my brain wanders off down a…[Read more]

Puma,
We also had that plan to travel when he retires. He will turn 60 this year, so we have a few more years to go.
Plus we have hit a snag in the road so not sure that traveling will be in the cards. One of our daughters was given the diagnosis of cancer.
The insurance that she had through work turned out to be horrible. Lots of big co-pays…[Read more] -

Hi Puma,
You sound just like me. Pain has been the third person in our relationship for 27 out of the 28 years we have been together. I have always tried to protect him. He is beyond wonderful, beyond supportive, beyond compassionate and he would fly to the moon if it could help ease my pain. Even though I know all of this, I have always tried to…[Read more]

I guess none of this has been implemented as yet at the VA I use as of yet. Wish I was not so skeptical, but to me this is just another feel good, we are doing something for the vets like Veterans Choice. That has been one SNAFU after another and still no sign that they will get Veterans Choice running like they say it will. Reading this now is…[Read more]

Ms. Kitty,
I gasped when I read that you had a mis-step and went in to the water again. I am so happy that you are so smart and know how to get out of the water and back to BD so he can help you dry off.

I am also on that journey of finding the “2016” me.
Each year, each month, each week, we find things changing when it comes to our pain and how it affects our life.
What I could do in 2015 has changed. The new year brings new restrictions, I really dislike that word, restrictions, but there is not a better one. It is what it is, I am restricted…[Read more] -

I totally agree with what TPC YaYa shared. I have degenerative joint disease and I am bone on bone, no discs left. That makes it hard for me to bend and the reacher/grabbers are wonderful tools to have in our pain toolbox.
I have run in to the same issues, finding one strong enough, small enough to carry around and affordable. To answer your…[Read more]

Ambersprun,
Those are some really great questions. I know for myself the thing that helps me the most is one of those Reachers/Grabbers. The problem is finding one that folds up small enough to keep in my purse but is still strong enough to pick up heavier items on the top or bottom shelves.
The expense is another issue, in order to find one that…[Read more] -

Those are some powerful questions you put forth. I feel it is important to keep ourselves grounded in the present if at a possible. I live with pain, the pain is part of who I am and so I have to include it in my day to day life, when planning a trip to the store or across the country.
Finding the answers to those questions is a journey in…[Read more]
