Hi,
I am starting this topic for a friend who is following his dream of purchasing a boat and living life on the water. He has sold his home and is now on an adventure to find the right boat for him and his kitty cat.
He will be updating us on his adventure on this topic.
Follow those dreams because dreams do come true.

The FDA has a nice resource to review: http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm096386.htm; you can sign up for updates. There is also a PDF version of a consumer brochure: http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/ResourcesForYou/Consumers/BuyingUsingMedicineSafely/EnsuringSafeUseofMedicine/GeneralUseofMedicine/UCM229033.pdf.
Happy Reading.…[Read more]

Sadly, I am not surprised. We have a long way to go until the medical community (as well as the insurance industry) learns more about and promotes multi-modality, patient-centered, relationship focused pain care. It sounds like the physicians you spoke with are not practicing nor supporting integrative medicine.

That really makes me sad to hear. He really blew his chance to turn his life around. It makes you think that he wanted to get caught–making that attempt while you were home and napping. What an invasion of privacy you must be feeling, knowing that you entrusted him into the safety of your home and he paid you back by rummaging through your home…[Read more]

How is he doing now, Sarg? It makes me sad how our Vets put their lives on the line for us and we thank them by ignoring their needs & struggles when they return. This is a civil society??? Well, at least they are not treated disgracefully as the Vietnam Vets were treated. Sigh as I smh.

I am blessed to have great neighbors. We help each other with projects. This fall they helped me build a raised garden bed for my veggies. I now have an 8×16 space waiting to be painted and filled with new soil & “mushroom dirt” this Spring 2015. To go with it, they made me the coolest garden bench made of old split rail fence posts, re-cycled…[Read more]

I recently found myself nursing (pun intended) back pain that caused heel pain when standing & walking (most likely a back strain involving L5-S1 and or my SI joint). I am a big fan of thermal techniques, so I started with wearing a Tiger Balm patch during the day and switching to my heating pad at night. NSAID’s helped a tad plus stretching more,…[Read more]

SHBAE45: I have not seen this type of case, however, it does not sound far fetched either. I was wondering if instilling viscous lidocaine might help. What happens with cold temperatures? You might ask this question to the American Association of Pain Management, American Pain Society or the American Association of Pain Medicine where members are…[Read more]

It is sad but you are right Qualia. We are encouraged not to use pain medications. I just keep thinking with all the break-throughs in technology and such. Why is it so hard for researchers and healthcare providers to understand chronic pain?

Qualia,
Thank you for sharing that article. I find playing computer games not only helps me distract from the pain, it also is fun. I found a link to an article about the game, Snow World that the military used.

Sun is shining today but it is BBBRRRR especially when the wind blows. 25 degrees outside–feels like 15. I know we are not quite half-way thru winter, but I am sure looking forward to spring. I keep thinking about all of you who struggle with pain flares during this time. Warm Hugs.
