FredFriend replied to the topic Handicap Parking – Do you get questioned? in the forum General Discussions on Pain 9 years, 6 months ago
Ugh! Yes, too often. Just last Saturday night a silver haired man in a parking garage chose to loudly make disparaging remarks to his companion speculating on the ‘mental’ disability I must have since I was clearly able bodied and taking up a handicap spot. Hubby and I didn’t want to engage in a discussion with this surly person at 10:30 PM after…[Read more]

I love some of the new screen names. Welcome @FunkyTown! “Real” membership here at the Pain Community is free and I’m looking forward to learning more about your pain journey and coping tips. My favorite coping mechanism is distraction; games, movies, shiny things, rainbows… I’m easily distracted. My dog, Fred, is also easily distracted like…[Read more]

Sorry, she isn’t even on social media. She works about 10 hours a day and is a wife and mom in addition to being a super fantastic friend. The outing was great even though I did get a migraine. She was very […]

Thank you for this important information. I will be sure to bookmark this one. This sounds like a great idea for a series of blogs about the safety concerns related to different treatment options.

Oh, SirenDestiny, it sounds like you are in a big transition phase. I urge you to keep moving forward to find new joy as I have. (I’m in my 50’s now) In my 20’s and 30’s I kept having to give up jobs to find something more compatible with my pain condition(s) and ultimately stopped working in my mid-30’s because my body couldn’t keep up.
At…[Read more]

Hi GiGi,
Sorry that you have so many issues with pain. I have stenosis in a few spots in mys spine and have never been a surgical candidate. Things are manageable for me with meditation, exercise, massage, heat and acupuncture.
I’m glad you have found TPC’s discussion forums and chat for support. -

Thank you for this. It is so hard to know when it is okay to plan stuff and when it will be okay to tentatively plan something.
A couple of weeks ago I had to back out of a commitment at the last minute due to […]

I have had great success with Happy Feet insoles in Saucony Omni 13 shoes. These shoes come in a narrow size that, when combined with the Happy Feet insoles make for an 99% perfect fit to my super skinny feet.
With such narrow feet, it is difficult to find shoes that fit and do not increase foot pain or discomfort. I look forward to the vionics…[Read more]

I have two pairs and alternate them each day. This means that the shoes last a bit longer AND my feet don’t develop hot spots unique to each shoe.

This has been a fascinating thread to follow. I’m eager to read BD’s next chapter. Miss Kitty is gorgeous and I would like to request more updates from her. GG, thank you for sharing the Wave Rogue link. Although I don’t need one, it some how makes me feel better that this technology is available.
Thank you, BD for helping us to dream big.

It is so hard to tell at this time of year if the increase in headaches is due to the change in the weather, the barometer changes, the increased pollen and/or the Daylight Savings Time change.
This week I believe that it has been a combination of all of these things and my body’s inability to respond to all at once in recent weeks that has my…[Read more]

We live in earthquake territory so we have all the stuff listed above on hand and in mind. The food and water supplies for people and pets is rotated so that once a week we have something from that stash and then replace it with a newer same/similar product. Once a month we do a quick inventory to make sure we have enough for each person/pet on…[Read more]

Wow! There are so many options out there for connecting with people. I can’t seem to type fast enough to keep up with the online chats. I do like to lurk and read though because it makes me feel a little bit more connected to folks. Thank you for your story. I really related to this. With my fluctuating pain levels I’ve decided the true measure of “good day-ness” is whether or not I’m moving forward. As long as I’m moving, I figure I’m moving in the right direction. Once I let go of the “must rest up” mentality that came with my diagnosis, I found I had much more energy and…[Read more]
