For Immediate Release:
THE PAIN COMMUNITY NAMED “2022 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT” by GreatNonprofits

Award based on Community Recommendations

Alamo, CA October 13, 2022 – The Pain Community announced today it has been named a “2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading website for community recommendations of charities and nonprofits.

The Pain Community provides web-based services operated by a diverse team of volunteers representing patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, academics, researchers, and advocates. We believe that our team of volunteer board members reflects diversity of perspective and expertise with years of experience working in, and navigating through, the complexities of pain management.
Resulting in, a safe and informed place for everyone – all genders, races and ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, ages, spiritualities, and more – with discussions in chat rooms, blogs, and fact sheets for people with pain, advocates, and professionals. We recognize that our experiences are similar and we encourage empowerment and participation in healthcare choices through education and dialogue. Additionally, healthcare professionals and researchers can find information and perspectives of people with pain. This fosters empathy and opens up opportunities for discussions to facilitate best practice treatments.

“We are honored to be named a 2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” says Teresa Shaffer, Director of Outreach at The Pain Community. We are proud of our accomplishments as an all-volunteer staff.
The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that The Pain Community received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients. “Sometimes it is the little things that make the biggest impact in our lives. Having someone willing to just sit and talk to you. No expectations, no time limit, just someone listening to you talk about how the chronic pain has affected your whole life. A voice on the other end of the phone line, telling me it was okay to cry, it was okay to be frustrated and sad and angry and so much more. That voice that had absolutely no judgement in it. That voice that cracked a little because she was crying with me and for me. That is what I found at, The Pain Community, and that meant more to me then I could ever explain.” – Client Served
The Pain Community is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with The Pain Community.”
