A Twinkling of Angel Dust

Did you know that it’s the little surprises
that come our way that make life worth living.
Out of nowhere they will visit
in an almost miraculous way.
They are a rare gift,
an amazing moment of joy.

We capture it like an evening firefly, in cupped hands,
wanting to place it inside a glass jar for keeps.
But before we can, it escapes,
this fleeting little while,
that takes its fickle leave
then mysteriously abandons
a sparkling residue of wonderment behind.

For us it’s a curious, amazing phenomenon
when this uncommon sensation occurs.
It’s worth living to see if another might appear.
