This is the way it has been explained to me by my health care provider. Regardless of what type of opioid pain medications you are using, it must equal out to be no more than 90 milligrams of morphine, if you were taking morphine.
The 90 milligrams of morphine is being used as the goal post and the CDC guidelines say that if you must be on an opioid then it should be no more than that. Regardless if you are prescribed Fentanyl or Vicodin or the other types of opioid pain medications it is to be equal to taking 90 milligrams of Morphine.
