My own journey in pain
I stand, I crawl, I lay down
In the darkest days and sleepless nights
I pray for pain relief
I am comforted by my family and friends
I worry about being a burden to family
I worry that my life is lost
I am comforted by family and friends
I join The Pain Community to help others as they have helped me
My pain peaks
I remember that I have resources
When I help others I forget about my pain
I am comforted by my family and friends
I hope that I can make an impact on someone else
As they have helped me
Kristen, thank you for your response. Over the years I realized that pain is far more than physical but it is a connection with emotional, psychological and embedded into fear. Pain escalates and increases during anxiety, fear and a sense of decreased control. I have always believed that experiencing pain has altered my perception of others into a more empathetic individual. The realization that multiple approaches to my pain is the answer as well as the acceptance of pain as a teacher, captor and companion is extremely powerful.
Thank you Isabelle. You are right but one finds oneself in the past. I suffer from nerve pain as well and constantly strive to move forward. I am consistently striving to use alternative strategies to perform daily activities while working, it is a balance. I, too have suffered for a while, however I have been able to move into the now, but recognize that my pain is my captor as well as my inspiration.
Pain is something we either have power over or not. How we choose to handle it is what matters to the mind. If the mind can find one spot of no pain on the body then focus on that area. Calming the nervous center is important pick a color that makes you calm and happy. Have someone touch you on your arms, back, put a foot on your foot “touching is healing”. When the mind is living in the highest moment of pain the job is to calm the brain with happy things. Nothing but nothing is true until it happens so focusing on the future or the past is a waste of time. Living in the now and just doing today can make a difference. Everything in life is a choice but my favorite is being touch to calm the nervous system. “I am the baby and I need to be rocked sometimes in the moment to ease the pain”. I have been suffering with chronic pain for over 15 yrs. nothing has improved for me its got worst and have now experienced other health problems. I do what ever works for the day and pray that somedays will be better then others.
