For what it’s worth…
Bilateral sciatica since 2009
No surgery
Many many many pain docs.
Ok, was told in 09 to strengthen my core muscles. Of course no place knew how, what, or when.
15 years later i am..glacier slow. Key for me is as soon as i feel the smallest amount of pain i stop.
I started 7 months ago. At that time i could walk 0.04 miles on treadmill, curl 3 lbs once and a chest press of 10 lbs once. I would then soak in an ice bath.
Now I’m up to doing full planks, side planks, leg raises, 2 miles on treadmill 70lbs 30 times on chest press, and many more weight and yoga style exercises.
Does it help?
Yes in that i can move much more freely with no cane and less energy expended. The nerve pain…a little better it stays to small areas now.
What I’m doing is not for most people. I exercise then spend two full days lying on couch with ice and heat then repeat. I guess I’ll know for sure when I’ve developed a fully strong body for a 60 yr old.
